Agenda Items

The Idylwood Civic Club Board of Directors is soliciting your opinion about a Board of Directors (BOD) proposal to change the day of the week and time of day at which the general civic club meeting is held.

Currently, the Civic Club holds its general meeting on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM. The Board proposes changing the meeting day and time to the THIRD TUESDAY of the month and to begin the meeting at 7:30 PM. IF APPROVED, THIS CHANGE WOULD BECOME EFFECTIVE IN OCTOBER 2008.

The Board of Directors believes this change would have several important benefits:

  • Beginning the meetings 30 minutes later would increase attendance by allowing residents more time to get home from work and have dinner before attending the meeting;
  • Meeting during the third week of the month would allow the Board to report more timely information to you about HPD crime statistics (HPD’s crime statistics are typically not compiled until the third week of the month); and
  • It would allow the Board to report to the community the business conducted at the Super Neighborhood meetings, HPD’s PIP (Positive Interaction Program) and Board meetings (which will meet on the same night, before the general meeting).

If you have an opinion for or against this proposed change, you have several ways to voice your opinion:

  1. Attend the next Civic Club general meeting which will be held on Monday, September 2008 at 7:00 PM at St. Austin Center, at the corner of Wayside and Sylvan. Consideration of this proposal will be the first item on the agenda.
  2. Contact any officer or Board member by telephone, e-mail, or regular mail before the September meeting (addresses and phone numbers are listed in the September 2008 newsletter) and express your opinion.
