Many residents attended the March civic club meeting and shared their opinions regarding mitigation plans. In addition, after last month's meeting I wrote to you via email and asked you to write to Amy Barnes, a FEMA Region VI manager, and convey to her your opinion about what mitigation plan would work for Idylwood and many of you did so.

Below is a PDF version of FEMA's four-page letter that addresses, individually, all of the suggestions for mitigation that FEMA received and what mitigation plan has been approved. Page four of FEMA's letter states:

After reviewing the comments and suggestions provided to us, FEMA, THC, GDEM, and HCFCD have elected to pursue documentation of the entire neighborhood and the preparation of nomination materials to place the Idylwood Subdivision on the National Register of Historic Places."

What this means is that in the not-too-distant-future, the Idylwood subdivision will be receive formal designation as one of Houston's historic neighborhoods.
