March Meeting Reminder
I hope you will I hope you will join us on Monday, 10 March 2008 @ 7:00 PM at St. Austin Center for a presentation by two Idylwood residents about the results of the presidential primary election that was held on Tuesday, March 4.
If the results of the election don't make any sense to you and you want to know more, this is the place to be. If you understand what happened, but would like to know how or why, this is also the place for you!
Building on the presentation that Keith Hamm made at the February 2008 Idylwood Civic Club meeting about how Texas selects its Democratic and Republican presidential convention delegates, Keith and another Idylwood resident, Lawrence Curry (professors of distinction at Rice University and the University of Houston, respectively), will dissect the statewide results of the Texas primary and answer questions about what happened and why. Lawrence Curry, who is a professor of history, using his considerable knowledge of Southern history and politics, will help put the March 4 election results into a larger historical context. Keith Hamm will analyze the candidates' Texas primary strategies and the results of the exit polls, as well as explain the delegate-awarding process based on the results of the Texas primary.
