Gus Wortham Golf Course is gearing up for a Century Celebration! The 100th birthday for Wortham Golf Course starts with a beautification day planned by Gus Wortham Center Friends.
We’re starting out the New Year by celebrating the 100th birthday of Historical Wortham Golf Course with a beautification day clean-up that will be ongoing and extensive. Buffalo Bayou Partnership has stepped in to assist WGC Friends in the clean-up. It is a pleasure to have such help by BBP at this time since we are seeking donations for renovations to our City’s “original” Houston Country Club golf course now known as Wortham Golf Course. The current entrance is at 311 South Wayside, and the original entrance is at 7000 Capitol, located only three miles from downtown off the Gulf Freeway.
The first day of clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 9 a.m. behind Green No. 5 at the new hike & bike trail located at Lawndale (Lawndale Bridge) and Brays Bayou (East of Wayside). If you come to our area to view the activity in the East End, you’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful Brays Bayou project that was recently completed at WGC. BBP will help keep Brays Bayou clean of surface litter and our East End area beautiful.
