Greening and Beautifying Idylwood

Community Cleanups

Plans and organizes bi-annual community cleanups in Spurlock Park, Greenway Bayou Trail, and Sylvan Greenspace.

Tree Planting

Organizes tree plantings and works with community partners to plant trees in Idylwood. Over 300 trees were planted in Spurlock Park and HCFCD greenspaces between 2022-2024.

Art Mural Steps

Planned and supported art mural project for existing concrete stairs on N. MacGregor in Spurlock Park. The Idylwood community selected the winning design by Bradley Brown, Idylwood Resident.

Street Toppers

Idylwood Street Toppers installed in 2018 as part of 90th Anniversary Fundraiser.

Street Lights

  • Requested and sponsored new streetlights added by City of Houston throughout neighborhood (2016-2017 and on Sylvan and N. MacGregor (2023-2024).

Sidewalks

Requested new sidewalks in Idylwood through the City of Houston’s safe sidewalk program (2022-2024).  Sidewalks being redone as funding becomes available.
